Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is a form of yoga given by Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta. It contains several asanas or postures and other yoga teachings such as vinyasa, drishti, mudras, bandhas, and philosophy.
According to Patanjali internal purification can be achieved by the following 8 spiritual practices:
Yama- Moral Codes
Asana – posture
Pranayama – Controlling of the breadth
Niyama- Self-purification & analysis
Dharana – Concentrating
Pratyahara – Controlling of senses
Dhyana – Meditate
Samadhi - Absorption towards the universe
For perfect asanas and postures in Ashtanga Yoga, the person should incorporate Vinyasa and Tristana. Vinyasa is the breathing and movement of the body parts. There exists one breadth for each movement. Take the case of Surya Namaskara, there are nine vinyasas.
